Calligaris is an Italian company specializing in the production of designer furniture. The company was founded in 1923 in Manzano, Friuli, as a small workshop in which Antonio Calligaris began production of the traditional wooden chair with a straw seat. In the 1950s it was up to his son Romeo to take the reins of what was by then a thriving business, while in the 1970s, under the leadership of the third generation, Calligaris entered the industrial and international dimension, establishing itself as a leader in Friuli's so-called “chair district.” In the 1980s, production expanded to other categories of interior furniture and integrated other materials besides wood, such as plastic, metals, fabrics, methacrylates, glass, and ceramics. Through collaboration with various designers, both established and emerging, Calligaris began to collect numerous awards and recognitions, including the 2021 “fsc® furniture awards” and the “best managed companies award” for three years in a row starting in 2019. Today the company boasts a worldwide presence, through subsidiaries that distribute the products made in its 5 factories, and is recognized as one of the excellences of Made in Italy. A synthesis of traditional craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology, Calligaris signature furniture offers elegant and impactful solutions for any type of environment. Planners, designers, architects and craftsmen work together to create exclusive products that combine aesthetics and functionality, capable of evolving and adapting to the needs of customers.
